A very small scale screw extruder for research and development capable of working with as little as 5-10 grams of material. |
| The Mini Screw Extruder has previously been available only as part of the "Caleva Mini Kit" comprising all Mixer Torque Rheometer the Micro Spheronizer and the miniature screw extruder. |
The mini-screw extruder was designed to be part of the caleva mini kit and to work together with the Mixer Torque Rheometer and the Micro Spheronizer. We had several requests to supply the small extruder as a stand alone item to facilitate research and development with extrudates and spheroids on very small quantities of material. The extruder will work with very small quantities of material and is suited for laboratory development work. Dies with different hole diameters and hole diameter/length ratios can be provided. |

The speed of the extruder can be controlled between its upper and lower limits by use of a simple control potentiometer and a real-time reading of speed is given from a display on the control panel. A Caleva Datastor® can be connected if required to give a permanent recording (reading every 5 seconds) of power and rotation speed. Minimum sample sizes: Experiments have shown that if batch sizes of about 10g are used then a recovery of about 8g of extrudate material can be achieved. |
