The Caleva Extruder 40 is a production gear extruder, designed to produce a dense, high quality extrudate.  The high mass of the gears reduces problems caused by overheating of the material or drying out.

The apparatus is supplied with a standard gear set with 4mm x 1mm holes but additional gears can be supplied with different diameter holes.

The diameter of spheroids produced is largely determined by the diameter of the extrudate.

The Extruder 40 has a simple operating structure and is easily transportable on its own lockable wheels.

The Extruder 40 is one of a comprehensive range of Extruders and Spheronizers available from Caleva.  It is designed for small scale production use and for production trials in the pharmaceutical (pharma) extrusion process.

Construction can be tailored to individual user requirements.

The Extruder 40 is designed for production use but it is suitable for process development and batch production in the extrusion of pharmaceutical products.

The working capacity is suited to the Caleva production Spheronizer 380 and Spheronizer 500.

Output and Productivity

The achievable throughput is always dependent on the properties of the material being extruded and thus cannot be guaranteed.

The Extruder 40 is designed as a production extruder and, for most materials, batches of 40kg/hour should be possible.  Larger models are available if a higher throughput is required

Output is easily modified by altering the speed of rotation of the gears.

Available options

All extruders are supplied with a 95mm diameter extrusion gear set with 1mm extrusion holes. Additional gear sets are available with different hole-sizes as required.  Amongst other options available are:-

·    Gear sets with apertures according to user needs.  Custom sizes are possible but some are not practical please discuss your needs with us.

·    Customer specific apertures in 0.1mm increments can be supplied as required.  Although we can make gear sets with very small apertures we do not currently recommend aperture sizes below 0.8mm or above 2.0mm in diameter on 95mm diameter gears.

·    Stainless steel collection bins can be supplied to collect product as it is discharged from the machine.

·    A proximity switch can be placed so that the extruder will not operate unless a collection bin is in place.
